Bail refused in armed robbery case
An armed thief, who received a beating after allegedly trying to rob another man and a teenage boy at gunpoint in west Sydney, has been refused bail in court.
Police say Adam Burke, 24, approached the 45-year-old man and boy, 15, on Fallon Street, Rydalmere about 12.30am on New Year's Day.
Burke is said to have followed and threatened the pair, before the 45-year-old turned on the assailant and attacked him, causing him to fall down and lose control of the gun.
Emergency services were called and the 24-year-old was taken to Westmead Hospital with a cut ear.
He was later arrested and charged with robbery armed with a dangerous weapon.
On Monday, Burke was refused bail at Fairfield Local Court.
He will next face Campbelltown Local Court on February 11.
