Bad batch of MDMA circulating in NSW

NSW health authorities have warned the community of a bad batch of MDMA tablets currently in circulation.

The orange ecstasy pills labelled QDANCE contain two to three times more than the common dose, NSW Poisons Information Centre clinical director Andrew Dawson says.

"Just one MDMA tablet or capsule alone can cause life-threatening toxicity," Professor Dawson said in a statement on Friday.

"The risk is greatly increased if high doses or multiple MDMA tablets or capsules are consumed over a short period, or if MDMA is consumed in combination with alcohol or other stimulants, such as methamphetamine or cocaine."

QDANCE tablets have recently been seized by NSW Police.

The state government has placed amnesty bins at some festivals this summer following an inquest into the deaths of six patrons at recent NSW music festivals.
