'Armed robber' hides from cops under doona

An accused armed robber who hid from riot squad police under a doona has been charged with assaulting the anti-gang detectives who arrested him in the NSW Riverina.

Riot squad detectives and officers from Strike Force Raptor, who were following up three outstanding warrants regarding the 26-year-old, were led to a property in Griffith on Thursday afternoon.

"Following a search of the home, the man was located hiding under a doona in a bedroom," police said.

The 26-year-old allegedly resisted arrest and assaulted the officers.

He was refused bail to appear in Griffith Local Court on Friday.

Earlier on Thursday, officers from the same strike force also conducted a sting targeting Rebels bikies in the Griffith area.

Associates of the gang's Sydney-based Burwood chapter were identified and detectives seized gun parts, ammunition and cannabis from two properties at Lake Wyangan.

Two men, aged 34 and 65, were issued with firearm protection orders.
