Anzac tribute garden planted in Sydney

A flower bed created 100 years ago in Sydney's Royal Botanic Garden to honour Anzac soldiers has been replicated in time for centenary commemorations.

The Anzac Star Bed remembers servicemen past and present, including 30 men from the Royal Botanic Gardens and Centennial Parklands who went off to fight in World War I.

Four of those gardeners never returned.

"This is a tribute by gardeners for gardeners in the best way they know... demonstrating their respect for what occurred and what these men did," NSW Governor David Hurley told AAP on Thursday at the official opening in Sydney's Royal Botanic Gardens.
