Alleged Sydney molester's offensive calls

A man who allegedly molested a Sydney girl in a dance studio bathroom while on parole for a violent sexual assault is now being investigated over offensive phone calls.

Police on Tuesday said the 54-year-old man, who remains under guard in hospital after last week's attack in Kogarah, has been linked to calls made to a business in Sydney's south.

A woman told police in late October she'd received offensive calls from a man now identified as the parolee.

No charges have been laid over that report, police say.

Investigators are now appealing for anyone else who may have been contacted by the man to come forward.

Police allege he physically and sexually assaulted a seven-year-old girl in the dance studio bathroom before stabbing one of two men who confronted him.

His parole, which began in September last year after a jail term for a violent sexual assault in 2012, was revoked within hours of his arrest.

Police said Deputy Commissioner for Metropolitan Field Operations Jeff Loy, had personally contacted the parents of the child to advise them of the current situation.

He has also started an internal investigation into the handling of the offensive phone calls matter "to ensure the highest standards of victim care were applied".
