Alleged scissor stabber faces extradition

A woman will be extradited to NSW after allegedly stabbing her partner through an artery with a pair of scissors and leaving him clinging to life in a pool of blood before fleeing to the ACT.

The 40-year-old was rushed to Queanbeyan District Hospital on Friday morning with a severed radial artery in his left forearm.

He later underwent surgery in Canberra Hospital, where his condition was reported as stable.

Meanwhile, ACT police arrested the woman at the same hospital.

Detectives will allege the 41-year-old stabbed the man during what is believed to have been a domestic-violence related fight.

She was being held on Friday evening pending an extradition application by NSW police.
