A man accused of carrying a loaded shotgun in his backpack near the prestigious Golden Slipper horse racing event in Sydney will remain behind bars until next month.

Kelly Stratton on Tuesday briefly appeared via video-link at Parramatta Local Court where the 39-year-old did not apply for bail and his case was adjourned until April 5.

Stratton faces a string of charges after police allegedly found him with a loaded sawn-off shotgun, masks, gloves and 20 rounds of ammunition during a foot patrol at Rosehill on Saturday afternoon.
