Alleged NSW pedophile facing extra charges

An accused Sydney pedophile who allegedly preyed on children for more than two decades has been slapped with seven more charges after two more victims came forward.

Gregory James Druery is accused of sexually and indecently assaulting nine children from 1992, when he was 28 years old, until May this year.

Police allege the assaults included sexual intercourse with a 14-year-old, touching a child's genitals in the shower and pulling down a child's pants.

Druery is also alleged to have befriended his victims and their families through his involvement with a youth group at a Sydney Baptist church and his position as a baseball coach.

Further allegations are that Druery went to Vanuatu and posed as a visiting Australian welfare worker, handing out toys to underprivileged boys he later molested.

Campbelltown Local Court heard on Wednesday that Druery, 50, is facing 26 charges after two more alleged victims came forward to police following media coverage.

The court heard detectives would travel to the South Pacific Island nation next week to speak with witnesses.

Druery, who did not appear in court, did not apply for bail.

The Telstra technician was arrested at his Chipping Norton home in southwest Sydney in July.
