A teenager remains behind bars after he was accused of murdering another young man in a stabbing at a Sydney hair salon.

Fredon Laith Botrus, 18, didn't apply for bail and it was formally refused by magistrate Robert Rabbidge during an appearance at a Parramatta court on Saturday.

Police say his alleged victim - a 20-year-old man - died at Liverpool Hospital about 5pm on Friday, more than four hours after he was stabbed at a hair salon in Bossley Park.
