The son of late Sydney underworld figure George Freeman has been fined $300 after being found in possession of the party drug MDMA.

Adam Freeman, 32, was charged in November last year after he was found with 0.14 grams of MDMA outside a bar in Double Bay in Sydney's eastern suburbs.

Freeman also faced charges relating to $1650 found on him at the time, but these were later dropped.

At Sydney's Central Local Court on Wednesday, Freeman was fined $300 for possessing MDMA.

Last month Freeman was sentenced to at least five years in jail for his role in the production of more than 19kg of the amphetamine MDA.

During that judgment the court heard that Freeman had suffered a 10cm laceration to his forehead when he was hit with a tuna can while in custody.

In addition he was reportedly targeted in a "malicious Facebook attack" branding him an "informer".
