Activists charged over NSW farm break-ins

Two animal rights activists have been charged over an alleged spate of break-ins at pig farms across southern NSW.

A 24-year-old Adelaide man and a 37-year-old Ryde woman have been charged with several offences over the alleged break-ins across several months in 2013.

At one farm at Young, it is alleged the pair planted video cameras.

The man is the owner of a website called Aussie Pigs, which contains images and video of nearly 40 piggeries throughout NSW, police say.

Police believe the man may be connected to others who have committed similar acts around Australia.

Detective Chief Inspector Paul Huxtable said the Aussie Pigs website had helped them identify those involved in the break-ins and that the investigation was still ongoing.

"It is never appropriate to break the law to further your cause," he said.

The pair will appear at Cootamundra Local Court on December 7 charged with numerous break and enter offences.
