Accused shooter's colonoscopy bail plea

A man charged over a shooting outside a Sydney sex club has applied for bail, complaining he is in constant pain in prison and needs a colonoscopy.

Milad bin Ahmad-Shah al-Ahmadzai told the Supreme Court on Thursday he is believed to be suffering from either Crohn's disease or colitis and wasn't getting the correct medical attention in jail.

Severe blood loss, cramping, pains and loss of appetite were just some of the symptoms he was experiencing, he said.

"You feel like someone is stabbing you in the gut," he told the court.

Al-Ahmadzai said he had been told in June 2013 that he would get a colonoscopy within a year but that has not happened.

He also has not been given any information about his dietary requirements.

Having been moved to Goulburn's SuperMax last week, al-Ahmadzai said he isn't holding his breath.

"Have you any idea as to when you are going to go (to see a doctor)," his barrister Grant Brady asked.

"Here at SuperMax? Good luck," al-Ahmadzai replied via video-link.

But Justice Peter Hidden refused him bail saying he had no up-to-date medical information to rely on and he couldn't judge the matter without expert evidence.

He said al-Ahmadzai had failed to explain why he should be released under the new bail regime.

Al-Ahmadzai was sentenced last year over threatening to slit the throat of an ASIO officer in a series of threatening phone calls.

He is due to face trial in September over an alleged ram raid and then in November for the attempted shooting murder charge.
