Wife of Sydney ISIS recruit to fight charges of supporting terrorism

The wife of an Islamic State recruit from Sydney has vowed fight charges of supporting overseas terrorism.

Fatima Elomar was stopped at Sydney Airport trying to board an international flight with her children on May 3 last year.

She has been charged with supporting incursions into a foreign state with the intention of engaging in hostile activities.

Elomar, who is married to Islamic State recruit Mohamed Elomar, appeared this morning at Downing Centre District Court, where an estimated two-week trial was set down for November 16.

The crown applied successfully to have Elomar's bail conditions amended to have her report to a western Sydney police station weekly.

The court heard Elomar has already surrendered her passport.

Her husband is believed to be fighting with Islamic State and last year posted pictures online of himself holding the severed heads of Syrian government soldiers.

Elomar has reportedly taken a second wife in Syria, claiming to have married the 14-year-old daughter of fellow Australian jihadi Khaled Sharrouf.

A Twitter account, believed to belong to Elomar, recently posted a photo of five burqa-clad women holding up Kalashnikovs with the caption: “Chillin in the khilafah, lovin life,”.
