Dominic Perrottet ahead of Chris Minns as preferred NSW premier in the latest election poll

Dominic Perrottet is ahead in the latest opinion poll for preferred NSW premier just weeks before the state election.

Despite a series of scandals, new polling conducted for the Australian Financial Review shows Perrottet has leap-frogged Chris Minns as preferred premier at 46 per cent to 34 per cent.

And while Labor remains ahead 53 to 47 on a two-party preferred basis, that may not be enough for the opposition to claim the 11 seats it needs to form majority government.

Unsurprisingly, the rising cost of living is the biggest concern for most voters, while 45 per cent put housing at the top of their list.

Health care and economic management are also high on the agenda.

The leaders have four more weeks to convince voters of their plans to tackle the problems.

But if this polling plays out on election night, NSW could be looking at a minority government.

Votes go to the polls on Saturday, March 25.
