Man, 58, named as fourth victim of NSW, Queensland bushfires

A man's body has been found in burnt-out bushland near Kempsey in NSW.

Police said the body was discovered by residents on the southern end of the Kyuna Track at Willawarrin, about 34km from Kempsey, shortly before midnight.

The body is yet to be formally identified, however it is believed to be Barry Parsons, 58.

His friends had posted on social media looking for him.

A neighbour said he believed the man was killed on Friday, when a massive blaze ripped through the area, taking residents by surprise.

The man lived on a remote property, a couple of kilometres uphill and into the bush from his nearest neighbour.

He is only believed to have lived in the rental for 18 months.

Neighbours said he kept to himself and has a son living in Western Australia.

A post mortem will be held and a report prepared for the coroner.

Dozens of bushfires have wreaked havoc across NSW and Queensland this week, with high temperatures and winds raising the danger to catastrophic levels.

More than 200 homes have been destroyed and three people have previously been confirmed killed.
