Thunderstorms to engulf two states this weekend
Showers and thunderstorms are expected to plague parts of NSW and Queensland this weekend.
The conditions come as a large low-pressure trough travels across the nation’s east, the system has already brought similar conditions to parts of South Australia and the Northern Territory on Friday.

As the trough tracks eastward, showers and storms will spread across NSW and Queensland from the west to the east.
Southeast Queensland, including Brisbane, could see storms develop on Saturday afternoon and evening.
While the trough will weaken by Sunday, lingering atmospheric instability may trigger further showers and thunderstorms over Queensland’s south and NSW’s north.
A secondary developing trough will also cause rain and storms to redevelop across Australia’s central and southern regions.
The wet conditions are expected to persist, with forecasting models suggesting that they will continue across central, eastern, and southeastern Australia from Monday through Wednesday.

Some models indicate a heightened risk of severe thunderstorms over parts of NSW and Queensland during the first half of next week.
This increased instability is linked to a cold front clipping the country’s southeast on Tuesday and Wednesday, which could deliver a late-season burst of alpine snow to Tasmania, Victoria, and NSW.
With multiple days of thunderstorm activity on the cards, residents across affected states are urged to monitor local forecasts and severe weather warnings.
