Private contractors hired by NSW parliament are playing a game of hide-and-seek as they try to find three Liberals, including the premier's younger brother.

Jean-Claude Perrottet, Liberal powerbroker Christian Ellis and his mum, Hills Shire Councillor Virginia Ellis, have all failed to attend a committee hearing investigating claims of impropriety.

The trio haven't been seen after being called as witnesses to an Upper House inquiry three weeks ago.

The inquiry heard claims Perrottet and Christian Ellis asked a businessman for $50,000 to help them "get rid of" Federal MP Alex Hawke, the right-hand man to then-prime minister Scott Morrison amid a factional divide.

Professional process servers have attempted to deliver summonses at several addresses across Sydney in a bid to find the three witnesses.

"We're calling on them to cooperate, and we're calling on the public to report their whereabouts," Labor MP John Graham said.

Perrottet, who is the NSW Young Liberals' secretary, is due to get married in two months, but only his fiancée has been seen alone at a home in Mosman.

Christian Ellis, a former Liberal state executive, has also performed a disappearing act and his wife told a contractor she was alone with their newborn baby at their remote cattle property in Deniliquin, near the NSW-Victorian border.

Virginia Ellis hasn't been in contact with Hills Shire Council colleagues for almost two weeks.

Premier Dominic Perrottet has labelled the inquiry a "political smear job" given its timing just one month out of the state election.

The inquiry has until March 3 to find the witnesses before it will be forced to stop as the official election campaign begins.
