NSW Police post mock ad promoting double demerit points ‘bargain’

NSW Police have released a mock sales advertisement warning motorists they’ll face double demerits points as part of a “two-for-one long weekend deal”.

The ad, which features a loud, over-enthusiastic sales pitch promoting increased penalties for drivers caught using their phone, speeding, not wearing their seatbelts or driving on suspended licenses, was posted to the NSW Police Force Facebook account earlier this week.

“Back by popular demand!” a narrator exclaims.

“This weekend our famous two-for-one demerit combo deal! Bargain, bargain, bargain!

“Deals are available for a limited time only. Be quick – but not too quick.”

The meme-style video has since been viewed hundreds of thousands of times and has earned the praise of countless viewers.

“The meme department strikes again,” one commented.

“God, it is my goal to be the person who makes these videos LOL,” another wrote.

Earlier this year Northern Territory police released a bizarre retro-themed safety video ahead of the Bass in the Grass music festival.
