NSW police hunt for dangerous man

A man NSW authorities are describing as dangerous is being sought after his court-ordered electronic monitoring device was removed.

Daniel McQuilton, 27, went off-radar at about 4.15pm on Wednesday at Oxford Square, Darlinghurst.

Corrective Services say McQuilton deviated from his approved schedule of movements and discarded his tracking equipment - both being breaches of the terms of his court-ordered Extended Supervision Order.

Police were alerted by an alarm indicating he may have removed his tracking bracelet.

He is described as being 186cm tall, of medium build, with short blonde hair, short goatee beard and green eyes and is believed to be travelling in a stolen silver coloured Mitsubishi Lancer with NSW registration VWX-357.

He was last seen in the vicinity of West Street, Petersham.

Police would not discuss McQuilton's past crimes only to say he is to be considered dangerous.

They are advising members of the public not to approach him, but instead to call Triple Zero (000) immediately.
