Search resumes for missing swimmer on NSW North Coast

The search for a woman reported missing while swimming on the NSW North Coast has resumed for a second day.

Police were called to Shark Bay, Evans Head, around 7.20pm yesterday after reports a woman was seen entering the water.

A large scale search was conducted involving local police, Marine Rescue, Surf Life Saving, Fire and Rescue and a Westpac rescue helicopter however there was no sign of the woman and the search was suspended about 10pm.

The woman is described as being of Caucasian appearance with a slim build, aged between 30 and 40, with blonde dreadlocks.

Police have resumed the search again this morning with a rescue drone being used to aid authorities in searching the water.

A command post has also been set up at Shark Bay beach car park at Evans Head.
