NSW man charged over courtroom headbutt

A man who appeared before a NSW regional court has allegedly attacked a police officer from the dock.

Police say the 32-year-old appeared before Orange Local Court on Friday on domestic assault charges.

As he stood in the dock shortly before 11am (AEDT) he allegedly started abusing police in the courtroom.

Three police officers moved in to restrain the man and he allegedly headbutted a female officer in the face.

He was handcuffed and removed from the room before allegedly kicking a male officer in the stomach.

He has since been charged with assaulting police occasioning actual bodily harm, assaulting police and resisting arrest.

The female officer was treated in hospital but the male officer did not require treatment.

The man has been refused bail and is due to reappear in court on Monday.
