A New South Wales man has been arrested and accused of poisoning a female colleague by spiking her drink at work.

Police have viewed CCTV footage they say allegedly shows the 33-year-old man pouring a liquid substance into the woman's drink.

The investigation was sparked on Wednesday when the 26-year-old woman reported suspicions that a colleague had placed drugs in her drinks.

She told officers at Maroubra Police Station she'd felt ill during her shifts on a number of occasions.

Her co-worker has been charged with using poison to injure or cause distress or pain, and tampering with evidence.

He was granted bail on Friday and is due to appear at Waverley Local Court on May 24.
