Public urged to wash hands over bizarre letterbox 'gifts'
Sydney residents who received false "gifts" purporting to be from NSW Health have been urged to wash their hands thoroughly if they touched the packages.
The state health body said cards and packages had been dropped in letterboxes in some homes in the city, falsely claiming to be gifts or "remedial therapy".
NSW Police advised that anyone who received the parcels should avoid handling them and contact police immediately.

"Members of the public who do have contact with these items should wash their hands thoroughly," they said.
In a post on X, NSW Health said they would never leave "gifts" in letterboxes
"We strongly advise anyone who has received such a package to safely dispose of it without opening it," they said in a statement.

The note claims the contents comprise "a hand-crafted gift and personal remedial therapy for you and your family" and describes it as a "NSW Health incentive".
It also includes a landline and mobile phone number, and an email address that appears to be a printed hyperlink.
There is also a handwritten line that reads, "Compliments of our father".
Anyone with information about the parcels was urged to contact their local police.
