Desperate ADF chopper rescue of trio and dog trapped on roof of flooded NSW home
Three people and a dog have been winched by an Australian Defence Force helicopter in a dramatic rescue from the roof of a flooded home near Woodburn in northern New South Wales.
The chopper hovered for some time over the almost entirely submerged two-storey home before an ADF crew member was able to be lowered down to retrieve the trio and their pet.
Before the first person could be lifted out, the ADF member was seen losing his grip on the roof and falling into the floodwater, only to be rescued by one of the stranded trio.

It took 45 minutes for the first person, a woman, was rescued.
Prime Minister Scott Morrison thanked the ADF's work helping flooded communities.
"The ADF has some 600 personnel stood up or involved and their rotary wing assets have been proved to be incredibly important," he said.
A total of 35 local government areas across Queensland and NSW are eligible for disaster support payments.
Mr Morrison said there have been 80,000 claims made and more than $3 million already paid.

There are 26 evacuation orders across NSW affecting 40,000 people, with 17 local government areas declared disaster zones.
There are five additional evacuation warnings impacting a further 300,000 people.
