Nationals candidate replaced stolen Greens sign

The Nationals candidate in the seat of Lismore went to the Greens headquarters to replace a sign after a local woman had hers stolen.

Austin Curtin is in a neck-and-neck contest in the northern NSW seat, but the would-be MP was not fazed by the prospect of assisting an opponent.

When a local woman approached him to say her sign for Greens candidate Sue Higginson had been pinched, Mr Curtin sought to replace it.

He drove up to the Greens headquarters in Lismore to get another sign for her.

“Maybe that’s just the person I am,” Mr Curtin said.

“She didn’t vote for me.”

At present count, Mr Curtin is slightly ahead of Ms Higginson.

Labor had hoped to pick up this seat, but their highly touted candidate is currently in third place.
