North Queensland resident tests positive to Zika virus after returning from holiday

A north Queensland resident has tested positive to Zika virus after returning from a holiday in Thailand and Bali.

The Dengue Action Response Team has been sent to Gordonvale and surrounding areas south of Cairns to spray the town for mosquitoes.

"DART is working in the suburb and will continue the response over the next few days until the required area has been treated," Tropical Public Health Service director Dr Richard Gair told The Cairns Post.
