North Qld man cleared of Zika disease
AAP
Fears of a far north Queensland man contracting the Zika virus have been allayed with blood tests coming back negative for the mosquito-borne disease.
Queensland's health department says the Thursday Island man, who had recently travelled overseas, had been cleared of both Zika and dengue fever after results were returned on Thursday.
Zika virus and dengue fever have similar symptoms including a skin rash, red itchy eyes, fever, muscle and joint pain, headache and lack of energy.
