Supporters of Mahmoud Hrouk murder accused clash with media outside court

There were ugly scenes outside a court in Sydney’s west today after the man accused of sexually assaulting and murdering Sydney teenager Mahmoud Hrouk was refused bail

Aymen Terkmani, 22, didn't apply for bail, which was formally refused, or come up from the cells when his matter was mentioned at Fairfield Local Court.

He has been charged with murder and aggravated sexual assault, two months after the body of Mr Hrouk, 16, was found at a Fairfield East property a few blocks from the Hrouk family home. Mr Hrouk was found dead inside a derelict home at Fairfield East on May 17.

Uniformed officers were forced to intervene outside the court today as bearded men wearing hoods swore at the media, damaged camera equipment and hurled one reporter's microphone at a parked car.

One man verbally abused the media, before turning on the police and yelling “f—ing do something”.

Another man, who claimed to be the accused’s brother, told the media he supported him “100 percent”.

"He totally denies the allegations against him," solicitor Fadi Abbas told reporters outside court.

Mr Hrouk’s mother Maha Dunia spoke with her son on the evening of his death, but the phone call cut out suddenly.

His family then began searching for him, eventually coming across his body the next day.
