No Aussies involved in NY rampage: Bishop

No Australians are believed to have been caught up in a deadly rampage through New York's Times Square.

At least one person was killed and more than 20 others injured when a US Navy veteran slammed his car into pedestrians on Friday (AEST), in what Foreign Minister Julie Bishop says was a terrible incident.

"My understanding is that no Australians were involved but of course our consular staff are keeping a very close watch on that," Ms Bishop told reporters in New York.
