No advice on entering Chinese territory

The Department of Foreign Affairs has not provided specific advice on the consequences of Australia sailing into Chinese-claimed territory in the South China Sea.
The United States is reportedly planning to sail within the 12 nautical miles around Chinese reclaimed islands to test freedom of navigation, a plan said to have been discussed with Australia.
The department told a Senate estimates hearing in Canberra it had provided analysis on a range of issues but not specific advice on Australia following the US into the claimed territory.
