Nine News correction and apology

On 10 and 11 August 2017, Nine.com.au published a 9News article entitled "Police arrest Border Force official over international tobacco smuggling".

The article referred to the arrest of a man known as Ali Jomaa on serious drug charges.

However, due to an inadvertent error, the article was accompanied by a photograph, said to show Ali Jomaa, which in fact depicted a completely different person, namely Mr Abed Jomaa.

Nine.com.au acknowledges that Mr Abed Jomaa, the person shown in the photograph, has not been arrested and is completely unconnected to the arrests and crimes reported in the article.

Nine makes no suggestion that the person erroneously depicted in the photograph, Mr Abed Jomaa, was arrested or had any connection to the criminal activity referred to in the article.

Nine sincerely apologises to Mr Abed Jomaa for any hurt and embarrassment caused by the article.
