Man electrocuted on roof in Sydney's west

A 24-year-old man has died after suffering an electric shock on a Sydney roof.

Ambulance crews were called to the factory site at Regent Crescent in Moorebank this afternoon.

They found five men, thought to be roofing contractors, on the roof, and one was transported to Liverpool Hospital with lower leg burns.

He’s in a serious but stable condition.

While the other three were also brought down, an operation was launched to get the remaining man off the metal roof, which had become electrified.

He was unable to be freed until the power was turned off, according to police.

However, he was later confirmed to have died.

Acting NSW Ambulance Inspector Andy Cullen told nine.com.au it was difficult to reach the last man.

“It was a challenging situation to reach the final patient, who was still up on the roof. So we worked very closely with Fire and Rescue NSW and NSW Police to formalise a plan to make contact with that patient.

“That patient was found unfortunately deceased.

“The patient was holding some kind of metal pole in his hand and he’s turned and inadvertently touched some live wires adjacent to the rear of the building.

“It’s a distressing situation for family and some of the responders alike.

“I believe they may have been doing some kind of roofing work."

The other three men didn’t need any treatment.

Police said a crime scene has been established and Work Cover NSW officers are assisting with inquiries.
