Why Perth's Good Friday break could be a wash out

Perth is set for a mixed bag of weather this Easter long weekend, with Good Friday set to be our coldest April day in almost 15 years before a warm change on Sunday.

The Bureau of Meteorology has forecast a top of 16 degrees tomorrow.

Heavy rainfall and gusty winds have also been forecast due to the first cold front of the season, bringing with it the chance of a thunderstorm and possibly even hail.

A severe weather warning has been issued for the South West and parts of the Great southern with damaging winds up to 100 km/h forecast.

The worst conditions are expected to hit coastal areas between Albany and Busselton.

The front will continue to impact the region over the next two days with squally showers and dangerous surf conditions.

As the weekend approaches the chance of rain in Perth decreases, dropping to 70% on Saturday before clear skies just in time for Easter Sunday.

It’s set to be a perfect day for an Easter egg hunt with sunny conditions and light winds, reaching a top of 22 degrees and dropping to a low of 6.

Temperatures are likely to be well below average behind the cold front.

If we’re lucky we may even get a dash of snow on the Stirling Range.
