High-range 'drink driver' rolls 4WD onto train tracks at Lake Macquarie

A man has been charged with high-range drink driving after rolling his 4WD onto one of the busiest train lines in NSW.
Police rushed to Dora Creek in the Lake Macquarie Area shortly after 7pm last night following reports a large vehicle had lost control and left the road.
When officers arrived they discovered a white Toyota Landcruiser had crashed through a railway fence and landed on its roof on the train tracks.
The vehicle was blocking the Sydney to Newcastle train line, considered one of the busiest services in the state outside the CBD.
The driver of the 4WD escaped injury from the crash and fled the scene.
A short time later police officers apprehended a 36-year-old Balcolyn man in a nearby street.
He was taken to Morisset Police Station and underwent a breath-test analysis which returned an alleged positive reading of 0.153, more than three times over the legal limit of 0.05.
The man was charged with high-range drink driving, negligent driving and not giving particulars to the owner of damaged property.
The man’s licence was suspended and he is due to appear in court tomorrow.
