Victorian police dog bites would-be-robber
Bruce the rookie police dog has made his first arrest after flushing out an intruder at Melbourne’s MacRobertson Girls high school.
The three-year-old Belgian Malinois and his handler, Senior Constable Cam Waller, responded to reports someone was inside the school about 11.45pm, eventually finding a man who was hiding inside a stairwell.
The 25-year-old South Melbourne man then allegedly produced a knife, threatening Bruce and his handler before fleeing on foot.

The police pooch pursued the offender, chasing him down and biting him on the leg, inflicting a non-life threating leg injury.
The man has since been charged with a slew of offences including aggravated burglary, criminal damage and assaulting a police officer.
He will appear at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court today.
“Bruce performed well for his first arrest and looked after me well,” Mr Wallace said.
