Second man dies following Love Machine shooting

A second man has died following a drive-by shooting at a Melbourne nightclub last weekend, according to police.

Richard Arow, 28, from Maidstone became the second fatality, dying in hospital last night after earlier undergoing emergency surgery.

The Sudanese refugee came to Australia as a child. He was standing in line outside the Love Machine nightclub when bullets from a stolen Porsche Cayenne were fired at the venue at about 3am last Sunday.

Tributes to Arow were posted on social media earlier this week included a message from the Westside Strikers Football Club, which remembered him as a premiership-winning teammate.

"Richard was held in high regard, his personality and everlasting smile is something we will always remember," the post read.

Players planned to observe a minute's silence and wear black armbands at their next game, according to the club.

"You were not only a leader on the park who gave 110 per cent, but a true gentleman off it. You will be sadly missed," West Strikers president Sam Raniolo commented.

Security guard Aaron Khalid Osmani, 37, was rushed to hospital in a critical condition after the shooting but he later died.

The Narre Warren South man was remembered as a kind man who lost his life trying to protect the patrons of the club.

Police have not dismissed links between outlaw motorcycle gangs and the Prahran shooting on Sunday morning, but have added they are looking into a number of different organised crime groups.

Police are urging anyone with information including dashcam or mobile phone footage to come forward.

Detectives are investigating a Porsche SUV connected to the shooting, which they say was stolen from Dandenong in March and was found after the shooting burning in Wollert in Melbourne’s north as two people ran from the fire.
