'Hoon driver' takes out tree during chaotic turn on Melbourne freeway

Video has emerged of a driver’s destructive commute on the Tullamarine Freeway in Melbourne last night.

The footage obtained by 9News shows the silver Holden Commodore doing burnouts during a break in traffic on Mickleham Road just before 8pm yesterday.

Picking up significant speed, the car hurtles onto the outside lane, before spinning out onto the nature’s strip.

The car momentarily regains composure, but then loses control again and wipes out a tree.

The driver then quickly flees, smoke from the exhaust trailing behind him.

No one is believed to have been injured.

Police have told 9News they are now investigating, and are treating the incident as a case of hoon driving.
