A man has been rescued after he fell into a partially dug grave at a cemetery in Melbourne’s north-east.

Emergency crews worked to free the man, aged in his 40s, at Eltham Cemetery on Metery Road after he became trapped in the open grave around 7.45am.

The two-metre deep grave was not considered to be stable, with rescue crews taking two hours to free the man.
