Hatchet wielding man robs supermarket in Melbourne’s inner-west

Police are hunting for a hooded man who held up a supermarket in Melbourne armed with a hatchet.
Investigators have been told a man entered the store on Smithfield Road in Kensington at about 7pm on Sunday and told the attendant to get away from the register.
The man went behind the register and helped himself to cigarettes and cash. 9news
The cashier jumped the counter and the offender helped himself to cash and cigarettes.
He left the store but was confronted by witnesses at the corner of Woodruff and Westbourne streets.
The offender dropped the cigarettes and ran from the scene.
