A Geelong schoolboy has undergone surgery after he was mauled by a Labrador while riding his bike at a local park.

Harrison James, 7, was with his family at the Leopold reserve on Easter Sunday when he was knocked of his bike and attacked by a black Labrador, leaving him with a number of serious puncture wounds.

City of Greater Geelong spokesman Geoff Russell confirmed to 9News.com.au that there had been two dog attacks, the first in Leopold where a Labrador attacked a young child in a park.

In another incident a dog that rushed out from a house in Whittington and allegedly attacked a woman.

The council has confirmed that both dogs have been seized by council officers pending further inquiries.
