Fears of serial arsonist after fires damage sheds, homes

Local residents fear a serial arsonist could be operating in Adelaide's north-eastern suburbs after three attacks in Wynn Vale in a week.

Firefighters rushed to Gullyview Court to find a shed engulfed in flames just before 12:30am this morning, with the deliberately-lit blaze starting in a brush fence before spreading.

Homeowner Murray Cox wasn't home at the time, but returned to find his shed and its contents destroyed.

"We were at work at the time and just got the phone call that we had a big fire in the place and of course come dashing home and found that the shed had gone," Mr Cox said.

"Could have been quite disastrous, what would have happened if they hadn't caught it."

Just minutes after the first fire, crews were called to nearby Hampton Court where another brush fence had been torched.

That fire spread across the back of two houses, causing damage to both properties.

Police believe both blazes are linked and are now trying to find the firebug responsible.

The blazes come just a week after another shed was destroyed in an arson attack at Wynn Vale.

Police say sat this stage there is no evidence to suggest there is a link between last night's blazes and the fire on April 16.

Investigators are urging anyone who has seen suspicious behaviour in the area to come forward.
