Woman, 20, stabbed in the chest in Newcastle cafe
A 23-year-old man has been charged after allegedly stabbing a woman in the chest at a Newcastle cafe on Wednesday afternoon.
Ambulance crews were called just after 2.35pm to Maitland Road, Mayfield, to reports a woman had been attacked.
Crews found a 20-year-old woman with significant chest wounds and rushed her to John Hunter Hospital in a serious condition, where she remained on Wednesday night.

The man was charged with attempted murder, wounding and intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
The 23-year-old was refused bail, to appear in Newcastle Local Court on Thursday.
