New sovereign borders commander appointed

Australia's border operation against asylum seeker boats will continue to be run by a military commander.

Major General Andrew Bottrell will take over from Lieutenant General Angus Campbell, who has been promoted to chief of Army.

The new commander has served with a number of operations overseas, the most recent in Afghanistan in late 2012.
