Criminals could be stripped of money, property and flashy cars under a new national scheme targeting the ill-gotten gains of crooks and shonks.
Legislation cleared parliament on Wednesday giving law enforcement the power to confiscate the assets of criminals where they can't demonstrate wealth has been lawfully obtained.
Labor supported the changes, which will help states and territories to work together to deprive criminals of unexplained wealth.
