New posters for controversial candidate

A Family First candidate who found himself in hot water over a social media comment disparaging gay marriage in the wake of the Orlando nightclub massacre has changed his campaign profile.

Tasmanian Senate hopeful Peter Madden has removed slogans including `Mardi gras Malcolm' from his posters, which instead read "no increase to GST, no tax on superannuation".

"The changes to the trailer billboard are to let Tassie voters know our economic concerns for families. My stance on gay marriage and the dangers it poses to children are now well known," Mr Madden said in a statement on Monday, almost a week after his party told him to shift his campaign focus.
