Malcolm Turnbull's first overseas trip as prime minister will be to New Zealand.
He's heading to New Zealand late next week to meet with prime minister John Key to discuss counter-terrorism, climate change and the situation in Iraq and Syria.
"It is appropriate that my first destination is New Zealand," Mr Turnbull said in a statement on Friday, noting the close relationship between the two nations.
