New payment scheme for disabled Aussies
AAP
Disabled Australians will get higher average wages under legislation to set up a new pay structure for people with severe intellectual disabilities.
The federal government on Thursday introduced legislation to establish the scheme, which would pay disabled employees based on their productivity, but at a higher rate than they receive now.
The new scheme was developed following a Federal Court decision that ruled two intellectually disabled workers had been short-changed by their employers.
