New govt bill to protect violence victims

New laws enabling courts to better protect victims of domestic violence have been introduced in federal parliament.
The legislation, introduced to the Senate on Wednesday, also strengthens laws against international child abduction by parents and includes measures to help separating couples resolve financial matters outside of court.
"The rates of violence against women in this country are unacceptable and demand action," Attorney-General George Brandis said.
