Australia's new $10 banknote has been released into the world, featuring a revamped design making it harder to counterfeit.

A year after a new $5 note was introduced, the Reserve Bank has printed 200 million of the new notes which are expected to trickle out in the coming weeks.

Along with the counterfeiting measures, the new $10 note has two small bumps to help the blind and vision impaired identify it.

However the launch of the new note has not been without controversy, with betting giant Tabcorp raising concerns it could have trouble with them.

A Tabcorp spokesman said the company is updating its electronic betting terminals to accept the new $10 note and the process may not be completed until late October.

The RBA's assistant governor for business services, Lindsay Boulton, said businesses with cash distribution machines had been given six months to prepare for the new notes and improve their technology, if required.
