Netanyahu postpones Australia visit

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has postponed an official visit to Australia.

Mr Netanyahu was due to come to Australia in July and visit Canberra, Melbourne and Sydney.

But events in his home country, including the search for three teenagers kidnapped in the West Bank, have led to a delay.

Prime Minister Tony Abbott invited Mr Netanyahu to visit during the Davos economic forum in January.

An alternative date has yet to be scheduled.

It would be the first visit to Australia of any serving Israeli prime minister.
